There are dozens of meanings for "safe harbor." From a 401k plan to Trump's attacks on sanctuary states and cities.
Trump had an already written, and ready to go, article, as soon as President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador showed up. It's called "No Safe Harbor for Illegal Immigrant Criminals Under President Trump."
"Today, President Donald J. Trump hosts Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele at the White House, where they will showcase their historic partnership to make the world a safer place." We already had these people in custody. Sending them to El Salvador is not making the world a safer place. It's just giving your blood thirsty mind a massage.
"Thanks to the two leaders, scores of violent illegal immigrant killers, rapists, gang members, and other sick criminals have been swiftly taken off our streets."
Scores implies two scores which means forty. 261 people were shipped off to the Salvadorian prison. That means over 200 people weren't criminals. How many more Kilmer Abrego Garcia's are there in there? How many people are there just because they had tattoos?
You can just see the foam forming at Trump's mouth as he says "violent illegal immigrant killers."
Then he lists what he says are only a small sample of the criminals sent to El Salvador. 22 of them.
Some are there because they are accused of being gang members. Some have serious pending charges. But pending charges do not mean guilty and convicted. Yet, they are being treated as though there is no doubt to their criminality.
The last one on the list had pending charges for discharge of a firearm and theft. Why aren't all the Republicans in Congress in the El Salvadorian prison? They've done exactly the same thing. Again, this was a pending charge, not a conviction. You can't just say somebody is guilty just because they've been charged. That's not how the law works, unless you're Trump.
More and more the U.S. is starting to look like Nazi Germany in 1938. Being accused of a crime is guilty before being proved innocent. Except you don't get the option of a trial.
The Nazi Germany aspect was brought home when Trump decided that Chuck Schumer was no longer Jewish. He is now a Palestinian, as though that is a crime. Racism unbound. Asked about Josh Shapiro's Pennsylvanian governor's mansion being torched, Trump could only say the guy was not a Trumper, "... not a fan of Trump." How weak and failing can we get?
There is no safe harbor in which Donald Trump can hide. We know his racism knows no bounds. Justice has to prevail. Courts will be obeyed because they have to be. The dictator on day one never gave it up as promised. His biggest lie of all.
