More than 1.5 million people from 1200 communities have signed up with Hands Off! organizers to say they will show up locally Saturday in support of federal workers and to protest the fascist goons terrorizing the country by implementing deeply damaging and frequently illegal actions and policies (as well as performing a mad tariff experiment).
If you go to one of these events, please take a few photos and post them here in your own diary or one of the many that I suspect other people will write. This spontaneous upsurge of bottom-up resistance to the anti-democratic oligarchs is a crucial moment of solidarity. Such moments of broad unity rarely occur. We should celebrate and build upon them. This is, after all, about a lot more than Donald Trump and Elon Musk. There’s a bunch of these guys plus their armies of sycophants eager to turn the social and economic gains of the past century into dust. Joining together against these would-be rulers and in support of democracy, flawed as it may be, is an historical moment not to miss if you can help it.
