I learned a new word today from the Ukrainian student whom I tutor in English. It’s Surzyk.
That’s a pidgin, or maybe creole, combination of Russian and Ukrainian spoken in eastern Ukraine. She calls it a hodgepodge. It shows how complex language can be.
We start today with — Bavovna!
Boat bavovna.
Drone bait.
WARNING: Video shows drones hitting Russians.
There has not been a lot of news lately from Pokrovsk or Toretsk about advances from either side, but there has been plenty of fighting.
x
⚡️Over 150 clashes recorded on front lines, half of them near Pokrovsk, General Staff reports.
“The most intense situation is in Pokrovsk, Lyman, Toretsk, and Kursk directions,” the General Staff wrote. Sixty-five clashes were reported near Pokrovsk alone.

Russia is a death cult.
x
Russian state propaganda keeps pushing soldiers toward suicide. On state TV, POWs are branded as criminals and traitors, with calls for them to kill themselves instead of surrendering. Propagandist Sergey Karnaukhov now claims suicide in battle isn’t a sin.

I won’t embed this video, which is graphic. But it shows a Russian soldier on the ground begging for his life while his Russian comrades get ready to shoot him for retreating.
Russia has a new condition for peace — they want the U.S. to withdraw troops from Eastern Europe. Naturally, that means Trump is “considering” it.

Russia is flush with meat for the grinder.
This could negate one of Russia’s big tactical advantages, assuming it works as advertised.
Funerals continue for the victims of the Kryvyi Rih bombing.
Russia continues to claim that the Kryvyi Rih strike killed 85 NATO troops.
Russia’s strategy here is — when the world doesn’t believe your lie, tell a bigger lie.
Another 1,290 Russians and 43 artillery pieces.
Good riddance.

Ukrainian warriors have eliminated a Pskov paratrooper who took part in war crimes in Bucha in March 2022.
We are talking about a 24-year-old Russian terrorist Ruslan Omaralinov, who served in the 234th Pskov Air Assault Regiment. He was reportedly neutralized somewhere in the Kursk region.

Trump has been good for the ruble.
x
The ruble’s value has now risen for three months in a row, making it one of the world’s fastest-growing currencies. But how long this rally will last is unclear—and the exchange rate is approaching a point where it could hurt Russia’s budget and exporters.

I’m sure that as soon as Putin learns that Trump is unhappy he’ll order his troops to leave Ukraine.
Ukraine has captured Chinese troops fighting in Ukraine and Zelenskyy says there are many others.

Zelensky: We expect that China is now another country that supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine - after Iran and North Korea. But there is a difference: North Koreans fought against us on the Kursk front, while the Chinese are fighting on Ukrainian territory. #standwithukraine

They want to be paid? How unreasonable.
Just send them to the front. Problem solved.
Wouldn’t this make a great truck commercial?
(Insert brand name here): It’s Ukraine Tough
I disagree. Russian tank turrets fly much higher than anything produced by NATO countries.
After bombing, murdering, raping and looting the countryside, Russia wants to know how the folks feel about them.
x
This is interesting, Ukrainian underground in occupied regions is reporting that Russia is conducting a broad survey across occupied Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions on attitude towards occupation and anti-russian/extremists acts, improvements needed to reach out to police/authorities etc.

Ukraine carries on — in Kharkiv and elsewhere.
They missed each other.
