Minneapolis and the rest of the country are waiting for Trump to pardon George Floyd's killer, Derek Chauvin. He was a police officer at the time so he's immediately innocent to Trump.
MTG put up the conspiracy post that Floyd died of a drug overdose. Jasmine was having none of it.
Marjorie just loves sticking her nose in business she knows nothing about. Or she does know and she just wants to own the libs. She knows what happened to Floyd and cites the unrest as reasons for those uppity Black people to be silenced.
What MTG doesn't seem to know is the federally civil rights violation is all Trump can pardon. The murder charges are Minnesota state convictions. Chauvin can only go from one prison to another.
MTG is holding on to the straw that says Floyd died because he was supposed to, instead of his being murdered. Chauvin had a fair trial, convicted by a jury of his peers, and he should serve out his sentence. He got 21.5 years on state murder charges and a concurrent 21-year federal sentence for violating Floyd's civil rights. It's pretty clear, except for MTG and Trump.
Chauvin is currently in Federal prison FCI Big Spring until 2037. If Trump issues a pardon, it's just for the civil rights violation.
If Trump pardons Chauvin, there will be protests galore. But Chauvin doesn't get away scott free. The violence from 2020 won't happen. Minneapolis and Minnesota are preparing for possible problems. It would give Trump a reason to call out the National Guard and the military. That's why he'll do the pardon. Give him a reason to crack down. He doesn't care about justice. He would never have pardoned all the Jan.6th insurrectionists if he did care.
Jasmine's right. There is full bodycam footage of George Floyd's death. Anyone can run a stop watch of when his neck is kneed for 9 minutes. Lack of oxygen to the brain for that long would have left him permanently disabled had he lived.
While there were protests all over the United States, memorable was the police riot in Portland, Oregon. Things were peaceful until the police came out of a courthouse and directly attacked protesters.
Former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said Trump asked about shooting protesters in the leg to stop them. Trump's thirst for violence to solve problems goes way back.
We have got the voice of reason with Jasmine Crockett, and the conspiracy addled mind of Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Marjorie thinks a Trump pardon would get him out any prison time. Just the federal, not the state murder convictions. Trump has $940 million of big law firm's pro bono work to help him out challenging the state convictions. He will think his pardon and getting Chauvin big legal help will be a win.
May 25th is the five year anniversary of Floyd's death. Trump will deliberately use that date to cause as much trouble as possible. It will just fail.
