In recognition of the importance of preserving icons of automobile heritage, America’s Automotive Trust annually confers the “Master Collector Award” on individuals who have exhibited a sustained commitment to preserving vintage and collectible vehicles. The LeMay—America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington display’s some of the Master Collector’s vehicles. Denny Aker was the Master Collector for 2024. Shown below are some of the cars in his collection.
Bugatti Type 57
1970 Porsche 914-6
The 914 was meant to be an entry level Porsche. The 914-6 variant has a 110 horsepower, 2.0 liter, flat 6 engine. Only 3,360 were made.
1956 Ford Thunderbird
The Thunderbird was the answer to the Chevrolet Corvette. It has a 215 horsepower, 312 cubic inch, V8 engine with a 3-speed automatic transmission.
1963 Volkswagen Beetle
This has a flat 4 cam engine from a 1959 Porsche Spyder.
1958 Porsche 356 Speedster Shell
1962 Porsche 356 B 1600
This is the rarest 356 Porsches as only 248 were built. It has a 90 horsepower, 1.6 liter, flat 4-cylinder engine.
1985 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
This car has a 230 horsepower, 3.2 liter, air cooled flat 6-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission.
