There are many proposed treatments for diabetes in whole or in part, up to and including protected beta cell implants to undo Type 1 Diabetes, and all of its associated maladies, such as neuropathy, non-healing sores, cataracts, or kidney damage. In addition, medications approved for treating diabetes are sometimes found to help with a wide range of other conditions, most famously obesity. Each has to go through various stages of research and scientific study, up to FDA approval or the equivalent in other countries. I can’t cover all of the hundreds of current trials, but here are pointers to a good selection.
