A long time ago, in a place far, far away, Pulitzer Prizes were awarded to the New York Times and the Washington Post for their reporting on Trump's campaign collusion with Russia in tipping the election to Trump in 2016, detailed as well in the Robert Mueller report. The prizes were awarded in 2018 and Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against the Pulitzer Award Board in 2022 for awarding the prizes under supposed false pretenses which defamed him.
The last time we heard about the case was when the Pulitzer lawyers said that the case should be paused until after Trump's term ends, because it would interfere with him performing his duties. This is the same trick Trump has pulled on cases filed against him. Yesterday, a Florida appellate court ruled that Trump's case could go forward.
Trump will rue the day he decided to file this case because it will dredge up the truth in the Mueller report and remind everyone that Trump should been impeached and removed from office even before he was impeached over the Ukraine funding blackmail where Trump withheld funds until Zelenskyy would give Trump dirt on the Bidens. There should have been a third impeachment that stuck and removed him from office.
When Trump got the news last night, he was positively giddy. Even after news that his tariff plans had gone up in smoke.
He even tried to make it look like a news report with a scrolling chyron.
"BREAKING! In a major WIN in our powerful lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board..."
It's not a win. It's only that the case moves forward, which you're going to regret.
"... the illegal and defamatory 'Award' of their once highly respected 'Prize,' to fake and malicious stories on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax by the Failing New York Times and the Washington Compost."
Cute. That's the first time he's called the Washington Post, the Washington Compost. "Russia, Russia, Russia hoax" wasn't a hoax, and there were 10 instances of Trump himself committing obstruction of justice detailed in the Mueller Report. Not exonerated, Donnie.
"... the Florida Appellate Court viciously rejected the Defendant's corrupt attempt to halt the case."
I don't know where he gets "viciously" from. And if the attempt is corrupt, then all of your actions and attempts to hold off cases against you are also corrupt. All those fingers pointing back to you again.
"Now they admit it was a scam, never happened, and their reporting was totally wrong, in fact, the exact opposite of the TRUTH."
Donald, you are reading way too much into this ruling. They haven't admitted a single thing. The Washington Post and New York Times have rightly called you a liar, a cheat, and a thief, and a danger to national security.
"They'll have to give back their Award."
It's called the Pulitzer Prize, dingbat, and it's plural. Even if the Pulitzer Board lost, they still wouldn't have to take away the prize. If you're calling giving the Washington Post and the New York Times the Pulitzer Prize defamation, why haven't you sued the Washington Post in the New York Times for their stories? Trump did sue the New York Times and the Washington Post, but it was for opinion pieces on RussiaGate, not about their news reporting.
"They were awarded for false reporting, and we can't let that happen in the United States of America."
That sounds like a threat against the free press. You have to show that the reporting was false, they knew it was false, and maliciously published it even though they knew it was false. You're never going to make that case stick. You've also gone completely off topic. The case is about the Pulitzer Board, and it does involve the New York Times and the Washington Post, but even if you could prove their reporting was wrong, there would still be no defamation by the Pulitzer Board because they worked on the belief that the reporting was true and the effort to obtain it was worthy.
"We are holding the Fake News Media responsible for their LIES to the American People, so we can, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
For the millionth time, America already is great, but in great danger of you destroying it. We still have a chance to save the country. But when you attack the press, you are corrupting the First Amendment. Censorship has no place in the news media. If you can't even honor the First Amendment, we know you don't have any concept of enforcing the others. That's what your job is, Donald, you are supposed to be enforcing the Constitution of the United States, not ignoring it and subverting it.
Trump is going crazy over the least little bit of good news he can get. His administration has suddenly taken a huge nosedive with the tariff ruling.
Trump is so stupid that he doesn't realize that this is bad news. The Pulitzer Board was just trying to avoid legal costs. They have been represented by Ballard Spahr, a law firm of 750 lawyers. I assume they have not been doing it pro bono, but the law firms that overturned Trump's executive orders against them might jump in to help. That would be poetic justice.
Now it is Pulitzer that will get it's day in court, not Trump. Trump will once again be shown to be a criminal. And he brought it all on himself.
