UPDATE: with a currently estimated 11,000,000 protestors nationwide we are very near the 3.5% rule. This is what democracy looks like. The estimated number of protestors in NYC is over 200,000.
Short and sweet diary. I attended the Manhattan No Kings Protest today with my union, the PSC. There is no way I could account for how many actually showed up, but it was easily tens of thousands. It was fun, people of every age and skin tone attended, there were brass bands, it was so packed at times that you could barely walk, I was next to an 86 year old walking with a cane most of the protest and he outpaced me most of the time, the NYPD stayed on the sidewalks and I saw no interaction except for them to clear vehicle traffic, people from buildings cheered us on, truck drivers cheered us on, I even saw some fist pumps from the NYPD, I saw no ICE, no proud boys. It rained the whole time and no-one gave a shit.
Below are some videos and photos I took. Keep this up people.
Near the end of the protest, a brass band played Twisted Sister’s We’re Not Gonna Take it while people sang along.
