Relating a very odd experience a friend had this week on Mr. Zuckerberg’s popular social media platform, and wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.
My friend had been off on a shopping trip and reported on his Facebook page:
We were in a store in [location redacted] yesterday, and there was a customer looking for a specific lamp. The store owner said that the German manufacturer has paused exports to the U.S. until tariffs are resolved.
The friend clicked on the button to add a color background (red with white type, if that matters), then hit Post… and this appeared:
We were in a store in [location redacted] yesterday, and there was a customer looking for a specific lamp. The store owner shared an opportunity for American manufacturers to step in and fill the gap, as the German manufacturer has paused exports to the U.S. until tariffs are resolved.
As you may have guessed, my friend had nothing to do with this MAGApologetic edit. It also occurred instantly, indicating that it was a pre-programmed, algorithmic function.
My friend’s experience hasn’t led me to leave the platform, because I find it useful for both professional and political work, as well as tons of fun. Still, I am checking my own posts more carefully and advise others who frequent Mr. Zuck’s spots to do the same.
