I get lots of fundraising texts each week, and this one caught my eye. It was from Evan Hutchison who is primarying Democratic Rep. Daniel Goldman, NY-10. Hutchison made some big claims in the text, as you can see in the screenshots below.
I was shocked by the outright lies in the text. Maybe I’m naive, but regardless, it’s appalling. It also feeds cynicism in the political process which is definitely not a good thing, especially from someone who is running as a Democrat.
- He said Goldman opposes Medicare for All. Turns out that’s a flat out lie.

Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today joined Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in introducing the Medicare for All Act of 2023. This landmark legislation would expand affordable health care access to the nearly 100 million people in America who currently have no health insurance, are at serious risk of being uninsured, or still face prohibitively high health care costs. Additionally, On April 1 of this year, redeterminations of Medicaid eligibility began which will lead to 15 million people being kicked out of the program and forced to switch insurance plans or go without health insurance.
- He said Goldman opposes the Green New Deal. Turns out that, too, is a giant lie.

Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) joined Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) in introducing the ‘Green New Deal for Public Housing Act of 2024’ which would invest as much as $234 billion over the next ten years into the nearly 1 million public housing units across the United States. This funding would be used to weatherize, electrify, and modernize American public housing so that it may serve as a model of efficiency, sustainability, and resiliency for the rest of the country.
The ‘Green New Deal for Public Housing Act’ would transition the entire public housing stock of the United States into zero-carbon, highly energy-efficient developments that produce on-site renewable energy, expand workforce capacity.

Washington D.C. - Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today joined Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) in reintroducing the Green New Deal to advance a bold agenda to fight the existential threat of climate change. The Green New Deal would address climate injustice, economic inequality, greenhouse gas emissions, and create millions of good-paying union jobs. The Green New Deal builds off the success of the Inflation Reduction Act to address the twin crises of climate disaster and economic inequality.
“Climate change poses an urgent, existential threat to our communities and we owe it to our children to take decisive, effective action to solve the climate crisis,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “I am proud to stand with my colleagues as we spotlight environmental justice, facilitate an equitable green energy transition and fight for the future of our planet, by reintroducing the Green New Deal.”
- He said he refuses to increase taxes on billionaires. That too, is another enormous lie.
Dan Goldman on raising taxes on billionaires: goldman.house.gov/...
Washington, DC – Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) today announced he is cosponsoring the Billionaire Minimum Income Tax Act. The Billionaire Minimum Income Tax Act would require households worth over $100 million to pay an annual minimum 20 percent tax rate on their full income, including regular income along with realized and unrealized gains and prevent the wealthiest Americans from escaping federal income taxes or paying lower tax rates than working Americans. The minimum tax would apply only to the extremely few households with a net worth over $100 million, and not affect the 99.99 percent of households with a net worth below $100 million. The tax is projected to raise $361 billion over 10 years.
“At a time of record wealth inequality, the wealthiest among us must help to provide more access for others to pursue the American dream that they have benefited so much from,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “I’m proud to cosponsor the Billionaire Minimum Income Tax as a long-overdue piece of legislation that will level the playing field, incentivize investment in the economy, and expand opportunities for underserved communities.”
Dan Goldman on raising taxes on corporations: goldman.house.gov/...
Washington D.C. - Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) this month cosponsored the ‘No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act’ to end Trump Era tax breaks that incentivize corporations to ship jobs overseas, harming domestic small businesses and American workers. This legislation would ensure that multinational corporations pay the same tax rates on their profits earned abroad as they do in the United States. In addition, the ‘No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act’ would bring the United States in compliance with the Global Minimum Tax deal and guarantee that tax revenue goes to the U.S. Treasury instead of foreign coffers.
“We must support our small business and American workers by ensuring that their jobs and profits are not shipped overseas by large corporations incentivized by tax breaks,” Congressman Dan Goldman said. “It is time for multinational corporations to once again pay their fair-share of taxes here at home and prioritize American labor in American jobs.”
With the passing of the Trump tax incentives, studies have found that companies that benefited most from the tax break on offshore profits have increased foreign rather than domestic investment. Others estimate the U.S. loses over $90 billion in revenue annually from offshore tax dodging.
The No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act would establish a minimum tax rate on multinational corporations' overseas profits that matches the domestic corporate tax rates and applies to a comparable base. This move aligns with the Global Minimum Tax Agreement in 2021, which Secretary Yellen helped 130 countries adopt through the OECD, and our allies in the European Union, United Kingdom, and Korea have already started implementing. All American companies operating abroad will still have to pay the new minimum tax, even if the United States doesn’t join. Without U.S. enrollment, the money will go to other countries instead of staying in the U.S.
So, three of the four bullet points, in eye catching red, are complete fabrications of Rep. Dan Goldman’s record and views.
The fourth bullet point is really the issue — He supports a two state solution in Israel, and the right of Israel to defend itself against terrorists. Instead of making that point, Hutchison is cloaking his anti-Israel stance in progressive policy lies about Rep. Goldman.
Here’s a recent press release for more information on Rep. Goldman’s views regarding Israel:
“After 466 days of brutal captivity under a barbaric terrorist organization, the innocent hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7th will finally start coming home, as will the remains of the hostages who perished in Gaza.
"This long overdue hostage and ceasefire agreement is the first step towards an end to this conflict, which can now lead to a future of peace, security, and prosperity for both Israelis and Palestinians without the looming threat of Hamas, the terrorist group that executed the worst attack in Israel’s history on October 7.
"I am grateful for the leadership of President Biden and his national security team, who have worked persistently and steadfastly through very difficult circumstances to reach this day. Although Hamas repeatedly declined to agree to the framework of this ceasefire agreement that President Biden announced in May of 2024, the unyielding and ironclad alliance between the United States and Israel ultimately persuaded Hamas to capitulate.
“With this agreement, the Palestinian people can receive an influx of humanitarian aid and the international community can join together to rebuild Gaza with self-determination for the Palestinian people who have been horribly treated by Hamas. I urge our government to join forces with allies around the world – and especially in the Middle East – to help restore peace and security in the region.
“As we enter the first of three phases of the agreement, I am committed to upholding the conditional ceasefire and ensuring that every person impacted by this conflict, Israeli or Palestinian, is free from the horrors that Hamas unleashed. We will not stop until every hostage is home.”
For more information on Rep. Goldman’s background and why he’s good for our party and country, look no further than the biography page on his official House site. I knew him from his work as an attorney for the House Impeachment Committee, prior to his election to the House of Representatives.
However, he also served as an Assistant US Attorney...
During his 10-year tenure as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, Goldman focused on organized crime and white collar prosecutions, representing the United States in all phases of the federal criminal process, from investigation through appeal. Goldman conducted and supervised hundreds of investigations involving racketeering, murder, money laundering, gun trafficking, firearms, narcotics, extortion and loansharking offenses, securities fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, health care fraud, tax fraud, and other white collar crime.
From 2012 to 2014, Goldman was Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime Unit. From 2014 to 2017, he served as Senior Trial Counsel in the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force, during which time he prosecuted and convicted Billy Walters, a well-known sports gambler, for insider trading.
In closing, keep an eye out for some obvious red flags and do a little of your own research to determine the truth.
