I work with a lot of right wingers, so they are talking a LOT about Charlie Kirk lately. I stay out of it, because I could be fired if I said what I really thought, so I’m going to vent here a bit. One thing I overheard is them saying how “nice” he is, even to his debate opponents. The thing that instantly sprung to mind is an old episode of South Park.
Kyle’s family is going to go to Casa Bonita, and says he can invite a limited number of friends. Eric really wants to go with him, but Kyle doesn’t want to invite Eric because he is always unpleasant and mean. He often said racist things about Jewish people, though I don’t know if that specifically happened in this episode. Kyle is Jewish, and clearly dislikes when Eric does that. So Eric decides that he is going to be nice to Kyle. He puts on his best sweater and goes to Kyle’s house, and talks calmly. Kyle points out “that’s not being nice, that’s just putting on a nice sweater.”
This is exactly what Kirk did. He would put on a suit, and go speak his hatred in a calm voice. Since right wingers agree with him, they thought he was being nice.
In order to figure out what episode it was, I looked it up, and it originally aired in 2003, when Kirk was about 10. Eric is about 10. Coincidence?
