Condolences to Erika Kirk and the Kirk family.
Kirk’s widow used her first opportunity to address her husband’s murder by using plural nouns and pronouns to address Kirk’s killer (singular). This is the same kind of conspiratorial framing her husband used to gin up his “us-against-them,” toxic, hate-filled, bigoted worldview.
“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination, have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this: If you thought my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea what you have unleashed across this country.”
No, Erika, it wasn’t “evildoers” who killed your husband. It wasn’t “they.” It was one person, yet another young, lonely, disillusioned white male who was unable to sustain any meaningful relationships outside of his immediate family, and who had an unhealthy obsession with, and access to, guns.
It is unsurprising to see Erika Kirk exploit the death of her own husband to stoke the kind of vile conspiracy theories, hatred and bigotry that made Charlie famous. She looks fully prepared to carry on her husband’s Christian-right Crusade with more lies and propaganda.
Erika Kirk, you should be ashamed of yourself. You won't be, of course.
