Trump says he’s going to sue the New York Times for $15 billion dollars for defamation and libel.
Per Reuters:
"Today, I have the Great Honor of bringing a $15 Billion Dollar Defamation and Libel Lawsuit against The New York Times," Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.
Trump accused the paper of lying about him, his family and businesses, as well as Republican-led movements and ideologies such as the America First Movement, and Make America Great Again, or MAGA.
The suit would be filed in Florida, he added, but gave no further details.
If he actually goes through with it, sure, it’ll be a pain in the ass for the NYT. But they should be used to it by now. And he’ll withdraw the suit before it ever, ever gets to the discovery stage. Then the NYT should sue for attorney costs on the basis of Trump being a vexagious litigant. Hell, there might even be some folks at the NYT getting a good laugh over this.
