I suppose I should preface this piece by noting that violence which isn’t bona fide self defense is outside the bounds of civilized, democratic behavior. This includes the murder of Charlie Kirk. Whatever the killer — allegedly Tyler Robinson — truly had in mind, that rifle-shot which took Kirk’s life has great potential not only to crush non-violent dissent but also arouse some version of the civil war certain people seem to be hankering for. The politicized wake that will take place at the State Farm Stadium next Sunday in Glendale, Arizona, may give us an idea of how this is going to play out. Will it be a “Nuremberg” moment as some have suggested? Or as big a failure as Donald Trump’s military parade?
I’ve been told that every left-of-center person knows about Kirk’s bigotry in detail. But in talking to friends and acquaintances over the past few days since his assassination, I’ve found that only a few of them were aware of the breadth and depth of that bigotry, combined with ignorance. And his anti-semitic remarks have for the most part not made it into the media in the post-assassination stories and commentaries. They should get wider circulation. Thanks to Brad Johnson at Hill Heat, here’s a collection of some of Kirk’s greatest anti-semitic hits: </p>
