This will be about long exposure, low light photography. These photos are thought through, planned in detail, and often include at least one other person. If you haven’t done this before, it’s a great way to become familiar with several different ways to approach photography.
At minimum, you will need a light source that you can control, a camera with a shutter that you can control, and a way to keep both the camera and the subject stationary for the duration of the photo. Also you’ll need patience and a willingness to experiment.
The photo at the top was made with a friend at a golf course at night. The green squiggle is created by waving a glass bottle with an LED inside attached to a pole. Exposure time around 2 minutes.
Shown below is a fabric flower clipped in place while I moved a small LED around. The shutter was open for around one minute.
Finally, a waterfall is illuminated by a bright flashlight using a blue gel, then red, and no gel.
