This isn’t a Star Trek diary . . . really ;-)
I have written here before how Trump and his regime reminds me of movies and TV shows I have seen. From the movies Elysium and Patton to tv shows like Gilligan’s Island, the depth and breadth of what am I reminded of is no where near exhausted.
I have long referenced the words and spirit of Star Trek: TOS S2 E23 “The Omega Glory,” when interacting with Tea Party/MAGA types. Kirk’s stirring speech at the end of the episode engraved itself on my heart and in my head before I was 10 years old.
Part of his speech:
These words [the preamble to the US Constitution], and the words that follow, were not written only for the Yangs but for the Comms as well. They must apply to everyone or they mean nothing. (video of speech below)
Trump and his thug mob regime have reminded me, on the regular, of the Star Trek: TOS S2 E17 “A Piece of the Action.” In that episode the USS Enterprise encounters a society of highly imitative people. Their culture was forever changed when a ship long before the Federation, left a book on mobsters of the 20th century.
I was reminded of it again this morning, but instead of shaking my head in disbelief I am laughing at the absurdity.
Trump has said that he “may” tariff countries that don’t support him in his bid to take over Greenland.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — President Donald Trump suggested Friday that he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the U.S. controlling Greenland, a message that came as a Congressional delegation met Danish and Greenlandic lawmakers in Copenhagen and sought to lower tensions.
(snip)
“I may put a tariff on countries if they don’t go along with Greenland,” he said Friday, without providing details. “We need Greenland for national security.”
He had not previously mentioned using tariffs to try to force the issue. — AP
DUDE!
You’ve played this card before, again and again ad nauseum.
It has lost it’s sting.
You’ve already tariffed everyone, including an island full nothing but innocent penguins.
You have floated tariffing countries 500%, which isn’t a thing, but it shows what a baffoon you really are. And personally if I was Wharton School of Business I’d sue you to keep the name out of your mouth. You are causing long term reputational damage to the institution.
The world is used to it by now and has MOVED ON without us.
The only one your harming are the citizens of the US.
We’re fodder for what you want, aren’t we.
What scares me greatly is what you are going to do when you figure out that the world has become inured to your threats. Go nuclear?
What are you going to up the ante with?
I’ve seen and lived with an abuser before. I know how they work and escalate
What’s he going to do?
TACO?
One can only hope.
.
Yes I know, different franchise. I’ve always liked both.
Full episodes of Star Trek: TOS can be found here. “The Omega Glory” and “A Piece of the Action” are season 2. Each episode can be purchased for US$1.99. Also check out the season 2 episode called “Patterns of Force” (it’s about the Nazification of a people)

Star Trek:TOS means Star Trek: The Original Series
(as I wrote this I was briefly taken back to when my ex had me in the passenger footwell of my 1970 Chevelle Malibu — he was driving erratically to scare me, threatening to drive into a tree and kill us both, if I didn’t do what he wanted. Trump sets my PTSD on fire.)
