These diaries are archival, for the transition to WordPress. Please only comment to add images that match the group, or with added information about one of the images.

Once we are in WordPress, there will be no site Image Library. But you will be able to tag-search this group of diaries, select the category you are looking for, and click, download, then upload the image you want into the diary or comment you are working on.

The following images were selected from the DKos image library for the “Save the Images” project. I’ve done my best to organize them alphabetically. If you have favorite marsupial images or memes that are not included, please post them in the comments.

Not being knowledgeable about these species, I’ve used the identification provided by the image uploader. If you believe it is incorrect, you can leave a note in the comments.

Kangaroo

Oppossum

It is just waking up from a deep sleep after my dogs roughed him up a bit. They didn't hurt him but I hope they will discourage him from coming around.

Possum

Although the words are used interchangeably in the U.S., Possums are native to Australia and the surrounding islands, and Opossums are native to the Americas.

Quokka

Quoll

tiger quoll, (Dasyurus Maculatus) a very small black marsupial with white spots, native to Australia. Small enough to curl up in a human hand.

Sugar Glider

Named after their ability to glide effortlessly through the air on large wing-like patagium, along with their endearing love of all things sweet, the sugar gliders are small creatures with a shiny grey-silver coat. They are around 40 cm long from nose to tail, and weigh just 150 grams. These possum-like creatures feed on sap from eucalyptus shrubs and move very efficiently from tree to tree, gliding through the air for up to 328 feet..
