Thanks to the British political/satirical magazine PRIVATE EYE ( No. 1666), we found that Trump is facing fresh humiliation in his failed, decade-long lawfare campaign against ex-MI6 officer Christopher Steele (whose dossier was at the heart of the “Russiagate” scandal).
Last February, the High Court in London threw out Trump's claims that said dossier contained inaccuracies and breached his rights under the Data Protection Act. (Trump cowardly avoided to sue for libel.) In his filing, the Mango Mussolini claimed that the leaking of the dossier (done without Steele's involvement, mind you) caused him “personal and reputational damage and distress.”
The judge made no judgment on the allegations but simply ruled the claim invalid because it was filed after the six-year statute of limitations for data claims. Trump's lawyers tried to sneak around that but failed. Trump was subsequently also denied leave to appeal, and ordered to pay Steele's costs in the amount of 300,000 Pounds.
It will come as no surprise that Trump weaseled out and today, with interest and further costs, the amount he owes is now around 750,000 Pounds.
This has left Steele no option but to seek payment from Trump's UK-based assets, i.e:. his Scottish golf course in Turnberry, owned by “Golf Recreation Scotland Ltd” a UK registered company under the umbrella of The Trump Organization, with the Orange Oaf maintaining significant influence through his family trust and two weaselly wabbits Don Jr & Eric acting as directors.
So now in order to avoid paying what he owes, Trump is in the humiliating position to having to deny publicly ownership of his Club in front of a Scottish Court. His lawyers have already claimed immunity from costs due to him being the US president but the Scottish Court laughed at that.
Since Trump wields effective effective control of the resort, including hosting Keir Starmer there last July, and his public financial disclosure reports includes among his assets an entity named SLC Turnberry Ltd (a fully owned subsidiary of Golf Recreation Scotland), it's hard to see how he's going to wiggle out of that one — the alternative being seizure of his property.
As PRIVATE EYE went to press, officials from the Resort were going to be dragged before the sheriff's court in Ayr and likely would be forced to cough up the money.
