I couldn’t find this on YouTube or Instagram for some reason, so I’ll just describe it here.
The commercial showed four friends sitting around a table at a dimly lit, rustic bar, talking about the current situation in the country. It was three men and a woman, all in their mid-20s or early-30s. Here’s basically how the conversation went:
Man 1 [wearing a blue work short, possible a factory worker]: “It doesn’t bother me at all. He’s running the country now, and he’s doing what needs to be done.”
Man 2 [in coveralls, maybe a plumber?]: “Yeah, those people are ruining the country, have been for years. They’ve overstayed their welcome, I’m glad to see it.”
Man 3 [with a short beard]: “It’s not just that, though. He’s also been threatening other countries. We just got out of a war, we don’t want to start another one, do we?”
Woman [white blouse with glasses, looks like an office worker]: “I admit, I’m a little worried that he’s bullying some of the media, and they seem to be scared to speak out against anything he does. He’s got his own personal militia now, and I’ve heard some bad rumors...”
Man 1: “Good! Look, he’s doing exactly what he said he would, and we all voted for him. Right? I support him 100%.”
At this point the camera pans out of the bar, and you realize that these four friends are sitting in a bar in 1930s Berlin. As the scene fades, you see and hear in the distance the sound of people running and screaming while being chased down the street by brownshirts.
I thought this commercial was to the point, super effective and … nonexistent. Actually, instead of this commercial, during the NFL playoffs I saw a commercial thanking Donald Trump for some stupid fucking policy, and a teaser for the repellent upcoming movie “Melania.”
Do Democratic and other freedom loving organizations simply have better things to do than to fight Trump’s propaganda? Or are they just taking a breather? Why am I subjected to pro-Trump bullshit, while the side of freedom and honestly and justice just sits back and eats hot wings and cheese curls? The bad guys are working hard to spread their message, repugnant as it is. Maybe we had better match their effort and conviction.
