Disclaimer: Talking about a specific white demographic. Yes, I know who reads here.
Thing US Citizens don’t get about how they are viewed throughout the world, is that most if not all countries, friends or enemies or neutral judge the US to be untrustworthy. Because the US always seems to be doing underhanded shit.
While this view of the US wasn’t mainstreamed 12 years ago, the first election of Trump has sure cemented it. Other countries, cannot trust us to keep our promises, uphold treaties, respect boundaries, for all intents and purposes one might even say the US as a country is the pinnacle of Karenicity.
To the assorted white narcicism Christian nationalist out there, loyalty isn’t measured in how you stick up for your inner circle, but how you stick up for your so-called principles. The only thing you seem to stick up for is whiteness; that’s not loyalty it’s racism. You are not proud of being of European descent… you are proud of being white racists period.
It’s not about your culture, which is how one shows pride in their ancestry, it’s about keeping a country with a majority of white people, again that is not being proud of your race. A proud culture is celebrated, cultivated, augmented and continuously evolving no matter the numbers. That is why Native Americans have kept their culture alive against diminishing numbers, and should they (I hope not) but should they no longer be in 100 years, their culture will still be celebrated and remembered a thousand years from now because it has been stitched into the fabric of this land.
So far most of what the white people who have “conquered” this land have to offer to history is an endless regurgitation of destructive actions and behaviors, betrayal is your legacy. Your whole identity is to crush other identities, because you have not cultivated your own. And you do have stuff you could cultivate, but stuck in the conservative mindset, you refuse to evolve.
And that’s the real issue right there, you have built your identity around dehumanizing other identities and cultures. Black folks celebrate other cultures and vice versa. Most other ethnicities pat each other’s back and celebrate each other’s successes and innovations. You usually don’t (as a demographic) you cannot seem to help the fact that even as you steal from other cultures, you punch down on the creators of said cultures. There is an identity war out there, but it’s being fomented and waged by you and you only. Ain’t no one attacking your whiteness just your tactics.
You’ve managed to wage identity wars on just about every demographic, including white women. You’ve literally waged war on every demographic in the country every single time they start reaching higher positions of wealth and power. Every Single Time!
It seems to me from where I’m standing, that you are so intent on crushing the achievements of other cultures, you’ve neglected your own, left it in the dustbins of history. Your music has become bland and stagnant, your literature repetitive, your movies and shows insipid and also repetitive, your dances? Paintings? Sculptures? Architecture?
There’s something about culture that you seem to have overlooked, it is crucial if it is to survive for it: to be appreciated, to be elevated, to be celebrated… by OTHER CULTURES.
