Everything the “climate scientists” predicted — wildfires, droughts, outbreaks of disease, massive hurricanes, coastal erosion, and more — is here. Plus, recently, a spate of water-related disasters that have pulled me up by the short hairs.
Drowned people - drowned pets. Devastating property damage. Infrastructure ripped away and replaced by cavernous, muddy, stinking holes. Raw sewage in the city streets.
And the physics is simple: warm air holds more water, and more energy, than cooler air. Just ask The Royal Society:
Earth’s lower atmosphere is becoming warmer and moister as a result of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. This gives the potential for more energy for storms and certain extreme weather events. Consistent with theoretical expectations, the types of events most closely related to temperature, such as heatwaves and extremely hot days, are becoming more likely. Heavy rainfall and snowfall events (which increase the risk of flooding) are also generally becoming more frequent.
The boffins have been predicting all of these effects, and more, for years. For decades.
But now that the chickens are coming (very obviously) home to roost, HEAVEN FORFEND any reporting include a mention of climate change except for the useless, toothless, standard preamble: “while we cannot ascribe any one weather event to global warming…”
Hey timid journalists! Why don’t we take a few trembly baby steps out onto the scary limb of truth and say THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE, PEOPLE?
That’s all I wanted to say. Just that.
Oh, and that THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE REPORTING ON THIS IN THE MSM.
Yes, even with the anti-democratic horrorshow that is the Trump regime. Yes, even with the Greenland and NATO situation swinging from wild to wilder and more incomprehensible. Yes. Even with grocery costs rising and health insurance markets in chaos. Yes. Even with Minneapolis and Venezuela and Tulsi Gabbard and the Epstein files and all the fucking sucking hellscape that is (gestures around wildly) the rest of it.
Because even if it is too damned late for our fossil fuel-owned governments to do a thing about emissions, it is NOT too late for people to be responsibly informed about what’s coming, so they have an iota of a soupcon of a teensy weensy chance to look up from all the other madness and PLAN AHEAD. FFS.
