I sit up here staring, yet again, at a tremendous amount of white space where I try my best to keep it on the lighter side of things as the country under the rule of this regime continues to descend...who knows how far down.
I suppose that I could focus on the college football playoffs...nope, my team is not there. My city’s team is in the NFL playoffs but I consider myself only to be a fairweather fan (granted the weather in Chicago is usually never fair in January whether or not the Bears are in the playoffs...although this January is proving to be anexception so far).
From Venezuela to Minneapolis to Portland, and pretty much everywhere else, news continues to be sad, maddening, dystopic.
It is tempting to want to withdraw from it all; to ignore what is going on right outside your door; to lose oneself in a book, video game, casino gambling, porn, alcohol; anything so that reality is what one perceives through a perpetual state of enhanced endorphins.
We...I must resist that and see reality for what it presents itself to be.
And hope that it really is darkest just before the dawn of a new day.
