How tone-deaf are some of these Trump sycophants? I guess they are counting on pardons from Trump should they commit crimes before he leaves office. If the Democrats win the US House of Representatives — and, possibly, the United States Senate in November 2026 — many of the Trump toadies like AG Pam Bondi will have to defend their criminal behavior before committees hell-bent on discovering the truth. And, such hearings won’t just be about the Epstein Files.
This entire Trump second term has been a criminal enterprise. In the post-World War II era, it took decades to build the new world order, and if one stops to think about it, the destruction of established norms, codes of conduct, and domestic and international institutions has been almost instantaneous. In the decades-long Cold War with the Soviet Union, it wasn’t a foregone conclusion that much of the world would turn toward democracy — and away from autocracy. I don’t think Donald Trump ever learned that lesson.
The pathetic response by the Trump Regime towards the murderous regime that is the current government of the State of Israel — one engaged in what most rational people consider a genocide — has been an abomination. The undermining of NATO allies and, in several instances, downright abusive behavior towards leaders of other countries, is not something most Americans expect from their leaders. The purpose of international relations does not mean that the President of the United States helps himself, his family members, and cronies enrich themselves in the process. It is, rather, to maintain good relations with the rest of the world and advance the country’s national interests through diplomacy.
From destroying established political institutions like the Agency for International Development (AID) and the United States Institute of Peace, firing tens of thousands of federal workers, and abolishing standards set to combat the Climate Crisis, there doesn’t seem to be a limit to disabling the levers of government and doing real harm. Imposing trade tariffs (likely an illegal move) has only burdened the American consumer with higher prices. Sending ICE goons to terrorize communities — not to mention arresting citizens, inflicting bodily harm, and killing innocent civilians — has not reflected the best of who we are as a people.
I could go on and on, for the list of Trump transgressions is long and covers a great deal of ground.
The Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Committee, Congressman Jaime Raskin (D-MD), lectured AG Bondi earlier today (video above) in his opening statement for being indifferent to the plight of Epstein victims; engaging in a massive cover-up by withholding documents; and protecting and coddling abusers and enablers contrary to the laws passed by Congress. He castigated her for giving preferential treatment to Ghislaine Maxwell, abandoning victims, and engaging in sick behavior. Under her “leadership,” corruption, contaminating justice, phony investigations, and recriminations characterize this US Department of Justice. Raskin warned Bondi not to treat these hearings as a game. She didn’t listen to him.
Do these people have no shame or sense of decency? Surely, we are a better people and country than the criminals and inept clowns currently representing us in the executive branch.
