Kristi Noem started her day on Friday at the downtown Phoenix ICE facility in our neighborhood; had I known she was going to be there, I’d have greeted her with the sign I keep in my window (above). Turns out, her meeting at ICE was just the warm-up act for politicians and journalists on her “approved” list, because that group then took a caravan of ICE vehicles to a secretive north Scottsdale location for her presser, which no one knew about who wasn’t on the approved list.
I’ve noticed more and more ICE vehicles arrive at the downtown facility, and we’ve been hearing rumors that a Fulton County style raid on Maricopa County’s election offices might be in the works. Patrick Byrne, the Overstock.com CEO and trump lackey, even tweeted that DHS had raided Arizona’s elections headquarters. That turned out to be a lie and was deleted. Nothing happened here except Kristi Noem took her magic blanket and went to Scottsdale with a bunch of MAGA politicians like Paul Gosar and Eli Crane to warn Arizonans that our elections are corrupt and something must be done!
Except Arizona’s elections aren’t corrupt, which court case after court case has shown. Kari Lake alone probably lost a half dozen cases trying to show fraud. MAGAs lost every local and statewide loss that they challenged in 2020 and 2022. The infamous Maricopa County election “audit” conducted by Cyber Ninjas that Republicans demanded after trump lost the state in 2020 only proved Biden received more votes! There is no fraud yet we hear this refrain every year from Republicans: “Illegals are crossing the border and voting!!” Tell me, exactly, how that would work. Duh.
Noem thinks she knows how elections should work: “When it gets to Election Day, we’ve been proactive to make sure that we have the right people voting.” What the holy hell! The “right people” voting? Talk about saying the quiet part out loud.
So there was Noem yesterday telling Arizonans that our elections are an “absolute disaster” because, I assume, the “right people” don’t vote, but when reporters asked her to point out one case of election fraud she could not name even one and said, “Oh, I’m sure there’s many of them.”
Yeah, there’s many of them, just like there were many domestic terrorists in Minneapolis who your goons had to murder.
