Evening, fellow kibitzers.
(My 4 o’clock meeting was rescheduled to 5 or 5:30 due to car trouble. Just a heads up that I will be late joining the conversation.)
Coming down or maybe it’s more like reemerging from the ‘trauma’ of the SOTU, which, each year since Joe Wilson called President Obama a liar, seems to sink to new lows in terms of decorum. This year’s speech reminded me of a far right pep rally. It was an hour and 47 minutes too much, painful to watch. And I know I have only myself to blame, I could have spent my time more positively. Not that I followed it closely; I divided my attention between the speech and ‘busy’ work on my phone. I’ve reached the conclusion that one should never watch these things alone, it’s too dis-spiriting.
it was chilling, the fervor with which they applauded him, the rallying chants of “USA, USA, USA.” It was sheer theater. He’s a master of it and despite all the talk he appeared rather robust to me.
One take away — I realized that there was no handing off of copies of the speech to the speaker and VP … Is that a tradition we no longer practice?
Week Three of Training
Maisie and I have are half way through Family Dog 1 up at the Marin Humane Society. Each class is so chock full of behaviors to teach, I always come home overwhelmed and took Tuesday off from any training at all. Maisie is doing exceptionally well! Whoever had her before she showed up in the shelter definitely worked with her as she is really good on the leash and knows her basic commands. She absolutely loves our little trainings, although unlike Aggie Pocket she is not really all that motivated by food.
Yesterday, I went to a free session at the Exercise Coach. Their spiel is that all you need is two twenty minute sessions with them a week because of the high tech machines they work with. I was trained on only three of the machines during my initial session, and while I don’t quite know how to explain how these machines are more efficient, there are several metrics which are input to customize the workout. Don’t know if I’ll sign up; I was just relieved to find out that my muscles hadn’t completely atrophied.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
