He retreated on Greenland due to STRONG pushback. His nationalizing elections fantasy needs the same

My title says it all. 

That demented pathologically lying fascist asshole openly fantasized about invading our close ally Greenland. The ONLY thing that stopped him from attempting to “Buy” (Or more accurately “Steal”) Greenland was serious pushback from the international community AND the Republican party here at home.

He persisted in that Greenland fantasy despite the obvious ramifications that included the destruction of NATO, the complete isolation of the US from western liberal democracies,  and the utter obliteration of the US reputation around the world. He persisted because he does not care about any ramifications that do not harm him personally. It goes beyond not caring about destroying the foundations of democracy, peace and prosperity- he is openly hostile to institutions that promote those values. He persisted in that fantasy despite the fact that taking Greenland against its will was clearly a violation of US and international law as well as our own norms and values.

Now he is openly lusting for “Nationalizing” elections here in the US. He does not give a flying fuck whether doing so is illegal and a clear violation of the US constitution. Why WOULD he?? He has not paid a price for any of his lawbreaking, and is willingness to wipe his ass with the constitution is well documented. (Does the phrase “Emoluments clause” ring a bell?? How about the date January 6?)

He is not going to give up on the fantasy of taking over elections unless he gets serious pushback from within the US. That means that at least some of the GOP are going to have to stand up and push back. 

I wish I had more faith in the GOP…
