The EOSDIS Worldview is showing the loss of pinning point 5 and will only accelerate I believe. The area is the eastern ice sheet adjacent to Pine island and NYT has an imbedded reporter with the current expedition somewhere on the glacier, hopefully much further inland (?). The next few days would likely see some dramatic changes to TEIS as I believe pinning points 2 and 4
are much further back.
Thank you Kris Van Steenbergen, also need advice about using this image/ screenshot for illustration and if I am missing critical permission having not asked him .
Please browse the comments below if you are not familiar with the glacier or its importance in rising climate change which are provided by many helpful kossacks, this really is a big deal and I apologize for being so brief in this diary. Please watch the videos and look up.
I also checked the climate info at Christopher Cartwright today 2/6 and found a wonderful four day gif that sees through the cloud cover, he is on Blue sky.
