Now that Trump has openly declared war on the American election system, we are seeing the beginning of his end. “Why?” you may ask. “He has simply bared the true depth of his depravity.”
The reasons are twofold
- This coup against the Constitution is Trump’s admission that his ratings are so low that the GOP is going to lose miserably in any fair election. And once that happens, the rest of his administration will be a maimed duck.
- Democracy is fundamental to the identity of Americans. If you are impressed by the brave Minnesotans who are protecting others from being kidnapped by ICE, wait ‘til you see what ‘We the people’ will do when they realize that LYIN’ DON is stealing their votes. You will see the giant awaken.
Reason #1 is self-evident. But you, of course, are skeptical about #2. Let’s discuss.
- Democracy is genetically embedded in American history, from both European and Native roots.
- Countless soldiers have died on foreign and American fields fighting for democracy.
- Does Trump want to be King?
- Should Trump be King?
Dems overwhelming said Yes to the first question and Republicans said No. Amazingly BOTH Dems and Republicans said No to the second question.

I was not surprised by this. My MAGA acquaintances (not a statistically valid sample size) have been denying that he should be King. I had assumed they were NOT representative of the entire heap. Apparently that’s not the case.
While it’s true that most MAGAs have little knowledge of our democracy – it would be like explaining algebra to gerbils - this polling data seems to me to provide evidence that some of them are trainable.
When it becomes clear to the American public that Trump is trying to take away our right to vote, they will fill the streets with protests that will dwarf the No-Kings rallies. There will be tens of millions in the streets. The protesters will be peaceful, yet there will be violence perpetrated by Trump’s stormtroopers. The videos of victims, gone viral, will incite bigger crowds in a virtuous cycle of indignation that will include even some Republicans. We will win this fight, and this time we won’t lift our foot from the accelerator after the election.
