I live in western Minnesota within spitting distance of North Dakota. I can think of several reasons Trump invaded Minnesota:
1) Trump doesn’t like Governor Tim Walz, who was Kamala Harris’s VP candidate in 2024. Minnesotans like Walz, who’s a nice guy. He’s a friendly guy who likes to laugh.
2) Trump despises Representative Ilhan Omar, who is a black woman of Somali descent. Trump is racist, sexist, and anti-Somali. I suspect Trump realizes she is a smarter and more eloquent person than he could ever be.
3) Minnesota voted for the Democrat in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Presidential elections. In Trump’s brain, the only way he could possibly lose a state is if they somehow rigged the election. He is deluded enough (or stupid enough) to think he’s a genius. He thinks Minnesota cheated in those elections. Which isn’t true.
4) Mpls/St. Paul is the 16th largest metropolitan area in the US. It’s not as big as New York or Los Angeles or Phoenix or Philadelphia or Houston. But it’s still pretty big. Maybe Trump thought ICE could terrorize and subdue Minnesota.
5) Maybe he heard about “Minnesota Nice.” Minnesotans are generally nice to each other. If a stranger’s car is stuck in the snow, you offer to push them out. That’s because if your own car is snowbound, you appreciate a stranger helping to push your car. Maybe Trump thought we were wimps who would back down when faced with a bully. He was wrong.
His invasion of Minneapolis/St. Paul has failed. Minnesotans aren’t protestors. We’re protectors. We protect our neighbors, even when it’s 20 below zero.
I’ve seen reports that some members of ICE haven’t been paid for a month and they’re starting to grumble. That seems to be typical for Trump. He doesn’t pay his bills. He doesn’t pay his workers. Plus, he’s a pedophile friend of Epstein. I despise him.
