I try to write about substantive issues: elections, discrimination, wealth distribution, bowdlerized curricula, ICE brutality, MAGA regret, incipient fascism, and the like. But this diary is about a rash. Specifically, a new rash on Trump’s neck. This one:

I have never commented on a politician’s skin. It was never relevant. People get old. Things sag, get bruised, and start flaring up. As long as someone’s looks do not affect their performance, they are not germane to any critique of their actions.
But Trump’s neck reminds me of a story of evil that finally manifests itself in the flesh of the evildoer. The Picture of Dorian Gray. In addition, Trump is a lizard-brained thinker who uses looks as a measuring stick. So I am merely playing by his rules.

We’ve seen his hands, his forward-leaning posture, his trouble with stairs and ramps, his shambling gait, and his lagging leg. Now, the rot is on the neck. The man is falling apart in front of us. Again, I stress, aging is part of the arc of a life. I know. I am not 18. But when a man makes constant references to women’s looks, he opens the door to return fire. And Trump cannot stop talking about appearances.

The man is a pig. A vile, low-rent, paleoencephalic grunter unredeemed by intelligence, morality, culture, taste, or manners. Now his exterior rot is catching up with the putrification of his core. It’s getting even uglier.
