Ok, the first bit of weird is the English language. Why even make a rule “i before e except after c” if you’re not going to use it?

The Supreme Court is deciding today whether drug users can own guns. And the drug they are talking about is marijuana. Um...duh. From what I can tell, they are trying to get some guy on some charges, any charges. But these have wide ramifications, and don’t seem to be based on much.

"It's outrageous that they tried to get him on a marijuana gun charge," says Aidan Johnston, director of federal affairs for Gun Owners of America. He contends that the government is seeking to criminalize conduct that was widely tolerated at the founding.

"It was the universal custom of founding-era militias to imbibe," he notes, adding that Thomas Jefferson and other famous Americans "possessed firearms while being users of drugs ranging from opium to cocaine."

I doubt anyone has smoked marijuana and then decided to grab a gun. Sure, it’s been well documented (NOT) that people go crazy from marijuana, but they don’t grab guns. If they ever reclassify marijuana perhaps it can be studied and we’ll find out all the ways it can help.

The other very strange news I read today was that the Tennessee legislature has a House Population Health Subcommittee. Wtf? Do you wonder what population health may be? I can guess that it’s not about the population having healthy food to eat or health care they can afford.

Some of the bills this committee (which is predominately male of course) is considering. HB229 restricts certain kinds of genetic testing. HB050 which is called “a monument to unborn children”, which is just a bill saying abortion = homicide.

All of the bills from this committee have to do with abortion. Fuck Republicans.
