In a separate incident Qatar downed two 1970s Iranian vintage Su-24 aircraft among twelve other missile and drone interceptions.
Qatar has shot down two of Iran's Soviet-era Su-24 jets, Doha's defence ministry said in a statement. If true, the downing of two Iranian Su-24 fighter-bombers approaching Qatari airspace marks the first reported instance of Qatar downing a manned aircraft.
Tehran previously had around 21 Su-24 ground-attack aircraft in service.
Its air force and navy intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones from Iran.
