Prior to President Donald Trump's deadly, economically damaging, and unpopular war in Iran, Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama was squarely in the lead for the title of dumbest member of the United States Senate. But he now has some stiff competition.
Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma has been making the rounds on cable TV to defend his Dear Leader's war, making a number of head-scratching, insensitive, and otherwise idiotic comments. For instance, get a load of the crap Mullin dropped on Monday in an appearance on Fox News.
"War is ugly. It smells bad," Mullin said. "If anybody has ever been there and been able to smell the war that’s happen [sic] around you, and taste it and fill it in your nostrils and hear it, it's something that you'll never forget. And it's ugly. And fortunately, you have President Hegseth, or I say ‘President Hegseth’—[Defense] Secretary Hegseth—that has got a great relationship with President Trump, and President Hegseth’s been there. He’s done that."

Markwayne Mullin: "War is ugly. It smells bad. If anybody has ever been there and been able to smell the war and taste it, and feel it in your nostrils, it's something you'll never forget. And fortunately you have President Hegseth -- or Secretary Hegseth ... President Hegseth has been there"

Of course, Mullin is not a veteran and has not served in a war, so how he knows what war smells like is beyond me. Mullin did, however, make millions off the sale of his plumbing business, so he probably is more acquainted with the smell of shit, which is also what he is full of.
But wait, there's more!
In an appearance on Fox Business, Mullin made a Freudian slip for the ages when he said that the war in Iran would not be a regime-change boondoggle like the war in Iraq, telling host Stuart Varney, "It's up to the Iraqi people—or I'm sorry, the Iranian people—to choose their next leader." Oof.
He also made the “Iraq” mistake in an appearance on CNN, which led host Kasie Hunt to say, "Doesn't that slip that you made underscore exactly why the American people are telling us in our poll that they don't want this? I mean, the memory of Iraq is still very fresh in a lot of Americans’ minds.”

MARKWAYNE MULLIN: Iraq-- or Iran
HUNT: Doesn't that slip you made underscore exactly why the American people are telling us they don't want this -- the memory of Iraq?
MULLIN: Well, this isn't Iraq. Secretary Hegseth made that very clear.

In that same interview with Hunt, Mullin went on to stumble when she pointed out that Trump ran on "not starting a war with Iran."
"This isn't a war," Mullin said. When Hunt pointed out that Hegseth had called it a war earlier that day, Mullin said, "What he declared on us was war, meaning ‘us’ as ayatollah. He declared war on us. We are not at war with the Iranian people.
Huh?
Mullin then stuck his nose even further into Trump's butt when he declared that Trump's comments about the regime-change efforts in Iran were just "hilarious."
"We've taken out their leadership and 40 other individuals. As the president joked about a while ago, he's creating jobs in Iran, which I thought was hilarious," Mullin said on Newsmax.
Har har, so funny.
All that's to say is that Mullin is proving why Oklahoma's public school system ranks among the worst in the nation.
Mullin’s bumbling bootlicking is unlikely to make Trump's unpopular war any more popular. But far be it for us to stop Mullin from embarrassing himself on television. You're doing great, sweetie!
