The controlled chaos — regardless of it’s authors or backers — is long underway.
Can we freeze the playing board for a moment and look at the moment with an analysis of what opportunities are there for a progressive agenda in the middle of the storm.
If i were to pen an article about Fear and fascism we would all agree that the rules are gone and this is real politik time in America. There is only what you can get away with — the law and social systems will bend to coercion or force or a lack of options ( starvation of process or system etc..)
So we keep track of gop people that grow a conscious and go hive mind on forming a resistance etc…
The bulk of all authorship on the current authoritarian state is defensive hope casting and strategizing — we protest against and seek to have things stopped etc…
But if it is true that in the state of chaos we are in that : if you can get away with it you can take it or make it or have it etc… Why can’t that be used for offensive strategy.
1st rebuttal — But Dooey — they hold the keys to the system that they are destroying.

Therefore what else do we have except the ballot box and defensive posturing.
We have culture — they buy and manufacture a culture that is unwanted — they got power through a culture war that is breaking at the seams.
Chaos stips down belief — the authoritarian uses that moment to push fear and compliance with the facade that choice is gone and only compliance remains.
Culture — the culture you make — right where you are and the agreements that others enter into with you based on the desire to have that culture do not follow those same rules for holding and keeping power.
If you open the creative imagination we could be controlling the streets with bake sales — garage sales — garden clubs — free tutoring — parking lot car repair clubs — free gardening exchanges — swaps — bartering dollar systems — be ins — prayer vigils —
If you form a movement that is confrontational you need superior leverage to win.
If you engage in a million paper cuts you don’t
let go of the illusion that there is a perfect plan to stop all the madness and restore order — there isn’t.
Accept that the state of affairs are as they are and look around at what the focus on grabbing power by your opponent has left vulnerable.
Easier still — ask yourself what you are good at and what fulfills you — then think through how to give that away like a starter dough — who might want it and how can you share … and is someone else thinking that way with ideas and exchanges that you need?
Got a lazy progressive teen in the house in a neighbor hood full of working gop and dems with kids?
Bartering for childcare when you can no longer afford it makes for a necessary change in political beliefs if you can get childcare.
I’m gonna give a lot of plants away to people i do not agree with politically this year. I will be less of a crazy liberal because the need is greater this year than last.
Once one person in the neighborhood put out a support flag — 3 more popped up.
There’s a lot more people using my local library. Tutoring programs need volunteers.
The food bank gets long lines with nice cars in them. Slowly but surely — more non progressives see that volunteering at it helps everyone.
So before this argument is brushed off and discounted as delusional — please consider the formula being proposed.
Just because the other side is manipulating the chaos for their power grab — does not mean that they can truly control it — because you can affect it by understanding that the cost of chaos is a loss of control and there are a multitude of weakness in the strategy — use your creative mind to find and test them.
