27% of Americans were in favor of war with Iran. But don’t try to confuse the Idiot-in-charge with facts. He doesn’t need any more confusing than comes naturally to him. On our side, I would say, if you aren’t confused, you aren’t paying attention. And I cite in evidence each and all of the items below.
Trump launched this war of choice, this war of naked aggression, and went to host a $1 million a plate fundraiser at his club.
- Operation Epic Fury continues. More than 2,000 targets struck by Monday night. Trump says that military operations might continue for three to four weeks more.
- Omani negotiators say that US and Iran were close to a nuclear agreement. Iran would not stockpile enriched uranium.
- US demands were increasing. End missile program, end support for terrorism, end crackdown on Iranian public, end ALL uranium enrichment...
- 48 Iranian leaders killed.
- New Supreme Leader to be elected by Council of Experts, which cannot meet under these circumstances.
- It is thought that the identity of the new leader has been agreed on informally, but it cannot be publicly announced until the Council of Experts can meet.
- Judiciary, Seminary, Council of Experts member might be the three-member panel in charge now, but this is not publicly known.
- MBS argued for attacks, counter to Saudi public policy promoting negotiations.
- Bibi says that this war is the fulfillment of his entire public career.
- Trump and Iran now say they want to negotiate.
- Trump tells Iranians to change their regime, with no ideas about how, and no suggestion that he would help, against an intransigent military/Revolutionary Guard, militias, and morality police.
- Trump 2012: Obama was going to start a war with Iran because he didn’t know how to negotiate. In fact, Obama got a nuclear deal with Iran that Trump later tore up.
- RFKjr, J. D. Vance, and Tulsi Gabbard were against war with Iran. We have them on tape.
- No administration official went on the Sunday talk shows, indicating that there is no message here.
- Dow down 500 points, 3/1.
- Oil prices up 9%, stock futures down in first trading since weekend attacks on Iran.
- Trump praises 3 US servicemen killed by an Iranian missile and five wounded, after many years of calling servicepeople ‘suckers and losers’. He says that there will be more, and that he “doesn’t have the yips (golf term for involuntary muscle spasms) about sending in troops.
- Congress considering whether to come back into session to debate the war, specifically to demand that Trump seek a Constitutional Declaration of War. Lindsey Graham says it is absolutely unnecessary.
- Airspaces in the entire region are closed, stranding thousands of flights.
- Trump denounces Iran for calling peaceful demonstrators terrorists, while calling peaceful demonstrators terrorists.
- Marco Rubio explained yesterday why we had to hit Iran back first.
We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action, we knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t pre-emptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties, and perhaps even higher those killed. And then we would all be here answering questions about why we knew that and didn’t act.
Except that Rubio later explained that that is all false. Even though we have him on tape, he denies all of it.
This had to happen anyway. The President made a decision. Iran was not going to be allowed to hide behind its ballistic missile program.
Israel was determined to act in their own defense here, with or without American support, and they determined, because of the exquisite intelligence that we had, that if Israel fired upon Iran, took action against Iran to take out the missiles, they would have immediately retaliated against US personnel and assets. We have troops in harm’s way, and we have many Americans in the region, and that was of great concern.
Trump a few days ago posted a different reason for war with Iran.
And here is Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s lurid fantasy about why, with my ✘ markings on the porkies.
Let me say this, because I forgot ✘ this small little detail. ✘ In that first meeting, both the Iranian negotiators ✘ said to us ✘, directly, you know, no shame, said they controlled 460 kilograms of 60% [could be], and they’re aware that that could make 11 nuclear bombs ✘, and that was the beginning of their negotiating stance ✘. So that’s, that’s—They were proud of it ✘. They were proud that they had evaded all sorts of oversight protocols ✘ to get to a place where they could deliver 11 nuclear bombs. ✘
In what is sometimes laughingly called reality, nothing like that was ever said, according to people with knowledge of those talks. So said David Rhode live on Way Too Early on MSNOW this morning.
Diplomats Claim Trump’s Special Envoy Undermined Iran Talks
By Ian Sherwood and David Rohde
A Persian Gulf diplomat with direct knowledge of the talks told MS NOW exclusively that Steve Witkoff’s description of a key conversation was false.
Iran did resume uranium enrichment after Trump, in his first term, tore up the Obama deal. Making bombs from 60% uranium requires enriching it to 90% first.
