I’ve become a fan of Amanda’s Mild Takes. I don’t know much about her except that she appears to be in Virginia and her quick videos are amusing and informative. She describes herself as an amateur historian.
She just released a video that pleads with everyone to take it to elected Republicans over Trump and the 25th amendment. Why get after the Democrats when they are in the minority? The majority party has to answer for this-

Ignore the Democrats. Yell at the Republicans. And I’m not just talking about members of Congress. Sitting around posting on social media all day about “Why aren’t the Democrats stopping him?”
It’s because they can’t. They’re the minority party and Congress is closed and only the Republicans can open it.
”Well, they could be coming to DC. They could be’” — I agree. I’m not in disagreement with you on that.
But in a moment like this, when the president is threatening to do something as terrible as bomb an entire civilization out of existence, I don’t care what the minority party is doing. I care what the people with the power to do something about it are doing. And that is the Republican party. End of story.
And not just Republican members of Congress- Republican voters. Your Dad, your uncle, your friends who voted for Trump, or were maybe Republicans in the past but aren’t anymore. Get them on the phone.
Independents who live in Republican districts, people in your life that aren’t into politics, who don’t do politics- ask them to do you this one solid and call your Republican representatives. This is the time to call in those favors from people.
This is not a popular war. Trump’s approval rating is tanking. More than six out of ten Americans do not want to be doing this.
Only the Republicans can get a War Powers resolution through Congress that would stop him from having access to money to send the military over there to do any more of this sort of shit. Only Republican members of Congress can pressure Pete Hegseth through back channels. “Hey, I got 45 million phone calls today that we’re all going to lose our seats if you do this. Please stop. Stop it, stupid! Put down the beer. Cut it out!”
It’s fine to wish that the Democrats would get on planes and go to DC and put on a parade in front of the Capitol steps because that would make you feel better. But that will not do anything right now.
