Here's an idea for what I think will be a very powerful ad to run in October of this year.
It lays out how the GOP has used faux issues to paint the Democratic Presidential candidate as weak or unpatriotic in the past 20 years.
I don't have the skillz to make this ad, but I hope the idea inspires someone with such talent (looks over at Jed).
Show image of Dukakis in a tank
Narrator: In 1988, they told you Dukakis was too weak and unpatriotic to be president.
Show George H. W. Bush
Narrator: "And you elected George H.W. Bush and he gave you a recession."
Show image of Al Gore
Narrator: "In 2000 they told you Al Gore was a serial liar."
Show George W. Bush
Narrator: "And you elected George Bush and he ignored Al Qaida and started the Iraq War."
Show image of John Kerry wind surfing
Narrator: "In 2004 they told you John Kerry was an elitist who had lied about his war record."
Show George W. Bush
Narrator: "And you elected George Bush and he ignored the Geneva conventions and tortured prisoners."
Show Barack Obama
Narrator: "Now, in 2008 they are telling you Barack Obama is too weak and unpatriotic to be President."
Show John McCain
Narrator: "And that only John McCain is patriotic enough to be president. Sound familiar?"
Cut to clip of George Bush
George Bush: "fool me once, shame on ... shame on you. It fool me. We can't get fooled again."
Narrator: "With Gas approaching $5 a gallon, two Wars with no end in sight, unemployment up, wages down, and an ecomony on the brink of collaspe, can America afford to be fooled again?"
Narrator: "It's time for a Change. It's time for Barack Obama."
So what do you think? Any ideas for improvement?
