All I can say is what in the world. McCain, trying to be a spoiler before Barack Obama's visit to Israel, has an interview with an Israeli TV station. He is asked about the possibility of Israel attacking Iran.
Asked about Israel feeling the need to attack Iran, McCain replied, "I would hope that would never happen, I would hope that Israel would not feel that threatened, " saying the U.S. and Europe could impose "significant, very painful sanctions on Iran which I think could modify their behavior."
Then, McCain went off on the deep end.

"But I have to look you in the eye and tell you that the United States of America can never allow a second Holocaust."
This is the worst political posturing I have ever witnessed. His responses are absolutely unmeasured and explosive. This man is outrageous and will now say and do anything to scare up votes.
The article ends with McCain vowing not to allow high level members of the cabinet to negotiate with Iran.
McCain said he favors low-level contacts with Iranian officials, Iranian officials, but not a meeting of presidents without preconditions. He said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would take advantage of such a meeting and its media coverage to call for the destruction of Israel.
I think a third grader would be smart enough to answer this. If there was an imminent threat, would you send in your highest level officials to negotiate a diplomatic resolution, or a low-level official with no authority?
