Obama "Nails" McCain in this new ad on the Economy and Iraq drawing on some populist themes and linking McCain to Bush and the economy to ending the war.
Obama unleashes a tough, national negative ad against McCain, returning to the core of McCain's weakness: the economy, and Bush.
The ad also constructs a narrative that, in a sense, accuses the Iraqis of bilking Americans with high oil prices.

"I’m Barack Obama and I approved this message."
Economics ... by John McCain.
Support George Bush 95 percent of the time.
Keep spending ten billion dollars a month for the
war in Iraq ...
While the Iraqis sell oil for record prices.
Giving Iraq a $79 billion oil surplus ...
And hurting our economy
Barack Obama’s plan:
End the war responsibly.
Better schools.
No more tax breaks for oil companies.
Barack Obama ... the Middle Class first.
After watching the ad several times, I think it does several things well:
1- Directly talks to the Middle Class with a new slogan to counter "Country First"
2- Hangs "Bush's Economy" around McCain
3- Blames "Bush's Economy" in part on the War in Iraq
I think many people will find it offensive that Iraq has a budget surplus while we pay for their reconstruction. If anything, I'd like the ad to be a little beefier on the end with Obama's positives. The ad is reportedly going on air in 16 Battleground states and hopefully the next hard hitting economic ad brings out discussion of Jobs
