Surely, a weathered GOP obstructionist politician from the South, like Rep Virginia Foxx is familiar with the negative interpretation of the term, "tar baby".
This is just an outrageous comment from another racist Republican from North Carolina. It's time to end the careers of these horrific people and run people against them using their own words and (deeds) to defeat them.
When 88% of the country is upset about the AIG bonuses, I guess you have to get creative about voting against Alan Grayson's bill to limit the $1 billion more scheduled to be paid out this year. So Virginia Foxx goes on the floor of the House and says that Democrats have a "tar baby" on their hands:
The expression tar baby is also used as a derogatory term for black people (in the U.S. it refers to African-Americans; in New Zealand it refers to Maoris), or among blacks as a term for a particularly dark-skinned person. As a result, people suggest avoiding the use of the term in any context.
