Gingrich: Focus on Obama puppy 'fairly stupid'

   WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich weighed in Sunday on news that the first family has finally settled on a new puppy for daughters Malia and Sasha.

   "I hope that the girls love the dog," Gingrich said on ABC’s "This Week." "I hope the family – and all the pressure they’re going to be in – finds it useful. And I think that this whole thing is fairly stupid."

This incredible remark by Gingrich is emblamatic of the Repugs out-of-touchness with the rest of the country. Figuratively kicking a puppy is never a good thing to do at any time. But when you throw this seemingly insignificant aside into the overall impression that the majority of Americans have of the Repugs it certainly doesn't help.

The really bad taste that this leaves in one's mouth is that the Repugs are so anti all things Obama and Democrat that even the little girls' dog is grist for their negativist mill. What truly wretched creatures these people are.
