Chris Matthews snapped at Politico.com's Jonathan Martin yesterday on Hardball:
“He uses you like he’d use Drudge or somebody,” while questioning Martin about Politico's overabundant stenographic approach to proffering Dick Cheney's personal musings.
Once in a while, Chris Matthews really redeems himself and shows that he's capable of being a serious journalist!
It's about time the "liberal" sic media started calling out prevaricators of Right-wing Republicanism that cloak their agendas under the auspices of non-partisanship, as is the case of Politico.com, in my opinion.
Chris Matthews snapped at Politico’s Jonathan Martin yesterday on Hardball:
“He uses you like he’d use Drudge or somebody,” Matthews growled at Jonathan Martin. Stunned, Martin had no response for why Cheney has been so willing to give Politico “exclusives.”
“You’d have to ask the Vice President, Chris,” Martin responded, “I’m not sure.”
But Matthews would have none of that nonsense and kept pressing the issue:
MATTHEWS: I mean, he’s got his own news conduit.
MARTIN: You know, we aggressively report on both sides.
MATTHEWS: It’s not reporting. He feeds you this stuff. … I do like Politico. He’s feeding you guys this crap. [...]
What’s he call up and say? “I got a hot one for you, Jon. Can you take — what’s your email address?” Is that what he does?
If Politico.com wants to continue to emulate Matt Drudge and Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity by willingly contributing to the recycling of Republican smears without question, Jonathan Martin, et al, should not be surprised when they finally get called out for it on the air.
