I've had enough! There is truly something mentally wrong with these "Three Stooges" of the air waves and I think it's high time we as compassionate, truthful and intelligent people, did something to stop the inhuman, malicious and relentless assault on our people, as well as those around the world, by this evil triumvirate of hate and misinformation.
A great number of Americans go home and listen to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and now Sarah Palin. No wonder the education level of this country continues to decline to a mind boggling depth and no wonder we have to pass hate-crimes legislation. Then after listening to all this garbage from these "entertainers", they turn to their "religious" leaders for guidance....faux religious leaders like Pat Robertson. Obviously a great number of people apparently are not discerning enough to see these charlatans for what they really are, and instead of scorning and ridiculing these purveyors of hate and fear and lies, they raise them on a pedestal.
What can we do about this? We can't ignore it and pretend they don't say what they say. To ignore it, is to give credence to what they say, in my opinion. People ignored what Hitler had to say in the 1930's and look at what that gave rise to.
On his radio show yesterday Limbaugh said the earthquake in Haiti will play right into Obama's hands by allowing him to play up his "compassionate" and "humanitarian" credentials, and that the President will use this crisis to "boost his credibility with the black community."
Additionally, if that racism weren't enough, Limbaugh also pivoted off a caller who complained about Obama directing the public to the White House website to find charitable organizations operating in Haiti to promote a conspiracy theory that finding these charities via the White House website puts your money at risk of not reaching Haitians.
Limbaugh also seems to feel we've done enough already for Haiti: "We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax."
Keith Olbermann attempts to look for answers about what makes Limbaugh and Robertson tick...with the help of the incomparable Eugene Robinson:
Sarah Palin has now become the fourth "Stooge"...the "Shemp" of the trio, if you will. Huffington Post's Roy Sekoff said it best on Joy Behar's show last night: "Jon Stewart recently did a bit where he talked about how the Fox News hosts had to dumb themselves down for the audience,".... "Sarah Palin doesn't have that problem. She fits right in."
Palin almost accused our President of being a terrorist. What the hell do you expect the reaction to such an inflammatory charge will be? Continuing along with the idiocy of these scary people:
Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin spewing together that "God" is on their side. Not only are they "pimping" God, they are also using the backdrop of the Statue Of Liberty to reinforce that if you're a true patriot, you're on (their) side. These are the weapons they use and it's truly scary, they are turning this into a "holy war" and and a war of patriotism, which is the reason that the Tea Baggers are thriving. A group that should be on everybody's list of terrorist organizations, in my never to be humble opinion....
So here we are. In my opinion, ignoring these people only gives them a platform to grow their hatred. What do you think? What can Americans do to put a stop to this kind of rabid hatred and fear mongering that is truly reminiscent of what happened in Germany circa 1930's and in many other lost civiliztions. I'm open to a frank discussion, are you?
