I'm not linking to World Nut Daily for y'all's sakes, but trust me, it's on there:
Officials with Tea Party Nation are organizing a National Tea Party Unity Convention, July 15-17, in Las Vegas.
"President Obama told Americans not to go to Las Vegas so that is exactly where Tea Party Nation will be holding our next event!" Judson Phillips, Tea Party Nation president, told WND in the e-mail announcement.
The event is to "bring tea-party leaders and activists in the movement together to present a unified front as we go into the fall 2010 elections," he said.
It's useless to point out to these people that Obama NEVER told anyone to not go to Las Vegas, but merely pointed out that people who are trying to prioritize in this economy are going to be careful about where they spend their money. If he told anyone not to go to Vegas, it's the bailed-out banks who were holding lavish parties there on the taxpayer dime.
I would think even the teabaggers would agree with the latter, but I've stopped trying to ascribe any sort of logical reasoning to them.
Anyone want to bet on how many of these good, moral, Christian, upstanding Americans will be slipping into the casinos and strip clubs when they think no one else is watching? That would be the only way to stop this from being the lamest convention ever held in Vegas. They didn't even serve alcohol at the convention in Nashville, proclaiming that "tea would be the strongest beverage served." We have tea at Netroots Nation too, although in my experience, the tea is generally of the Long Island Iced variety.
I think in light of this news, it is incumbent upon us to throw the biggest, best Netroots Nation we've ever had, to pack in far more people to the Rio than their little shouting match. Let's show them who is better organized and who has more support, even if the media doesn't quite get it. Let's show the teabaggers how it's done!
Register for Netroots Nation!
Book your hotel room!
And somebody be sure to bring the chocolate fountain!
