and a wave of conformity dominating our public school systems today are every bit as scary as
any B science fiction flick.  I showed up at the school meetings and trust me only the first one
was  a Town Hall.  Meanwhile,  during the span
of the dog and pony shows, yet another Coach
and student were ...well you know the story.
Immediately, while this coach was quitting his job and the principal's past was unfolding, whereas the 4th sex scandal, at two different
school districts had gained media attention but
not the ban.

The principal, claiming to be a former police officer had awaken this sleepy town in the south with a thunderous refusal to answer questions at the town hall meetings.  No media was called in after the first rejection by over 200 families,
and then police lined the walls of the dog and
pony shows.  

Keep in mind, we have no gang violence.  Nada.
We have a few punk kids but the administration
would not know a real gang member if they came
up and bit them.  The town is rual and extremely
conservative and much to my surprise and delight
the majority of people opposing this ridiculous
dress code, right down to the socks, had support
from left, right, and middle.  The loudest being
some of the Palin followers and another vocal group were the Obama followers.  Bipartianship is
attainable but probably not in Washington.  The old saying your enemy's enemy becomes your friend
has rang true in this case.

What we do have is a school system.....that cannot
pass the CRCT's and places academically at the bottom of the barrell.  The entire state of Georgia remains at 49 or 50 in the country.
The dropout rate is huge in Ga and even bigger
in this county.  We also have very energetic
kids who after I brought up Tinker vs DesMoines 1969, decided to protest the upcoming ban on
blue jeans and the existing ban of frayed hems or
tiny holes, and almost 100 were sent home the next day after the principal clearly stated he
knew about Tinker and they could protest.  That was a lie.  Sorry kids.  Again news media in the air and this principal as one student said has
Fox news on speed dial. So, some of the parents
now have a Watchdog site and the kids have You know you went to Villa Rica High school if...
on facebook.  
Frustration has mounted because letters to the
head man who runs Ga schools have accomplished nothing even though there was a file on the principal.  Seems the principal and he grew up in
the same neigborhood.  The news media contacted me after more than 40 calls were placed to have the protestors heard out but no response except
to find out if the coach was arrested in which he
wasn't, just resigned after both parties, student and coach refused to admit anything.  So much for the media coverage.  Parents have written the school board only to be ignored or attacked verbally.  

The school board  is meeting tomorrow and the last dog and pony show, parents grew wary and no one would answer questions and point blank said they would not answer any questions..  I took the mike and told the people to leave,,It was a dog and pony show and was a farce of democracy.
Lines of parents pointed out that one fight between some girls did not constitute a ban on blue jeans and dictating the color of a kid's hair or even the corn rows  or dred locks would
not be accepted.  People..many people have written letters, contacted the top of the educational ladder, contacted the ACLU which by the way has not called back, and feel they are
being extremely violated by this fascist dress code being imposed on a small rural town and even an A student making an academic scholorship was told in front of everyone on the 1st meeting that he was not dressed for success.  He could leave if not happy with the code.  An architect spoke up and was told to take his kids out as well.  The bottom line  Conform..Period !
Don't get me wrong.  I think the dress code that
is in place now is fine and it limits vulgarity,baggy pants, etc and it applies to the entire county but our HS has the x cop with the past in charge with an attiude.  He also has a past of not liking metal bands and having cops up at the school constantly and arresting kids or at least the papers at his last job said he did this regularly.  Basicaly for showing individuality according to the district 100 miles way news papers.  I stood toe to toe with
a full bird Col. at the Va in DC and never met this much resistance.  I think we have to sue if
we can get enough people with the backbone to do so.  Not only is this a pattern for this principal of creating drama and confusion but freedom of expression and IMO child endagerment as if this thing goes into affect according to some Notre Dame studies, could make for a less safe environment and has never proven to achieve
it's goals.  He even referred to an African American student as his little Indian.  Wow.
I got pics of chains on the gym doors and of course the gym door bathrooms were locked at all times as were the occcupied chain doors in the gym but of course we know why the bathroom doors are locked.  Unclear why chains are on the doors since coaches let people in right and left on the remaining 1 door.  God Forbid if there is a fire at that exit.  Well.  The fire marshal and police and media know about that as well.
Nada.
Again, do you know how a full police and fascist
state starts?  In small rural communities that are broke and afraid due to the abuse of power from the local PD to the school board.  They think they are the supreme court.  I expect anyday now, they will declare the kids enemy combatants for chewing gum.
