Now I have a facebook and found out some of the
old classmates were into the tea party.  One of my largest regrets in the 60's was remaining silent even though I was just a mere teen.
I have more than tried to make up for that silence since.

I had a rather odd thing happen tonight and I
want to share with my progressive friends.

how this went down on Facebook in a PM.  This is not a friend but rather a classmate from years ago that had joined my facebook recently and obviously had not seen most of my postings but I am sure has since, because tonight I went through each wall and deleted tea partiers.
It was just before the deletion I get a request to join...The Tea Party Movement.

The person doing the requesting is now a minister.  An evangelist.   The person knows I was the daughter of a minister some 40 years ago.
This person is quite accomplished.  There was no heated exchanged but I think he bit off more than he could chew before the deletion and he found out that some on the left who voted for this president and want healthcare, especially public option has scripture to back it up.

My apologies to any other faiths as this is my faith and the tea partier claim to fundementalism and I am a Christian, I just believe everyone has a right to their own faith, whatever it is.  They do not.

Here it is.
I can't do that, Dennis. I am totally against the Tea Party Movement and I won't be hypocritical about it with my classmates. I am a Christian as many of the tea party/conservative movement say they are but their idea of presenting themselves as Christlike is not the way I see and understand the Bible.

The Bible said to do good and present yourself as Christ would. To feed the hungry. If a man asks for a shirt to give him your coat. To care for the poor. He said that he puts people in power for whatever reason, to be there and it is our duty to pray for our leaders. God did not intend for us to belittle people with name calling and inciting violence.

I just don't believe a person can be right and belong to such a party. That is between them and God but as for this house, my husband who did serve in Vietnam and an avid
person of faith,  and myself will not go down the road of some of those members who belittle a person with Parkinsons.

We are against wars now but we know there will always be wars and rumors of wars. We personally have adopted 4 children. We are prolife but we don't force beliefs on people who are pro choice as  we do not believe in capitol punishment either.

We have children in their teenage years with preexisiting conditions. Serious pre exisiting conditions and they are about to fall off our insurance and I spent several days looking for money to buy insulin.

No.
I won't be hypocritical. I think the middle class will benefit, not that we are even middle class, but my 41 year old son who lost his business pulled his own tooth over not having insurance. I just stand with my president who was duly elected on this issue.

I thank you for your service and Welcome Home but we are conservative dems and for those who are believing lies in either party will have to stand before God. I am not judging you, that is between you and God but our decision for Americans and we being patriotic americans are outlined above. The shoe may not fit all, but it fits this family.

The bible said, Take no thought of tomorrow, and I don't understand that movement being happy with medicare, VA,
law enforcement and Fire Depts. but not wanting people to have quality healthcare plus the people In Iraq have been furnished universal healthcare and we do not get foodstamps or handouts of anykind but we give to those less fortunate and if I can pay 10.00 extra a month for a phone in taxes then I don't mind 5.00 to save a life.

(If there were taxes to be imposed later on for people under 250,000.00.

Sincerely
Amanda

His response

That was a lot of stuff in one comment. I will try to respond in kind. I believe our differences will forever be differend without discussion.

I  am a spirit filled fundalmentalist and a member of the Church of God. I have ridden the bus to Washington with the tea party people and we prayed on the way there for our country and our leaders. We also prayed for those in need in our country. We believe in being Christ like, feeding the poor, clothing them when needed etc. Where we disagree is that the responsibility for that falls on each one of us who seeks to live Christ like.

No where in the Bible have I ever read that it is the responsibility of the government to force God's children to do as the government wants. Where is the choice that God gives us as individuals to do these things when the government thinks it has the authority to do so.
As far as those in power, once again I understand scripture to say that we the children of God have the responsibility to choose, which includes our

leaders then we must live with our choices. Now, I know there are those in the Tea Party claming to be Christians who fall short in their convictions just like we all do That is why we are taught to be (Christ like) not Christ. He knows we will never measure up to Jesus. So, please don't judge the entire group on the actions of a few.
Praying for our leaders. Yes we should and I do and one of the groups

I meet with in Bufford each month includes them in our group prayer time. That in no way requires anyone to agree with what the leaders do or believe. Matthew speaks about we are to confront our brothers while at the same time we are to pray for the tax collector, who you probably know is the profession used as a reference when speaking of the wrong doers. After all, how will they change without prayer.
I can assure you that of the many people I have met in Washington and Atlanta, I have been impressed. I did have one encounter with a group in Washington chanting Impeach Obama and I voiced my opinion to them, but that was the only time that happened in my presents. I also took time out to speak with a group of protesters who were in favor of the bill.
That covers the Tea Party now about the health care bill itself.

First off, I am in favor of taking care of the sick. I differ when it comes to the delivery system. I believe rules can be changed in the private sector without the public sector taking control.
I agree with you on pro-life. I think of the visit Mary made to the home of John the Baptist just after she found out she was pregant with Jesus. I believe John the Baptist was in the womb only three months yet he kicked in the womb because he knew King Jesus was in the house. So life begins at conception.

I differ on the death penality because God destroyed evil as far back as the old testement and I believe evil needs to be eliminated. I am mixed about whether our judicial system is appropriate.

I disagree on the middle class benefiting because I believe over all healthcare quality will decrease.
I am thoughtful of your situation and your son with his preexisting problem. Here is my concern and I don't think it has been talked about. If I or anyone else could buy insurance at the going rate whenever I wanted reguardless of preexisting conditions, What prevents me from waiting until I have cancer or anything else before I buy it. So, I get cancer today and I go buy insurance tommorrow. What insurance company could stay in business at that rate?
I too stand with President Obama on some issues. This is just not one of them.

Now, health care in Iraq is no comparison to ours. What they get free is a visit to the doctor and some medicine if they have it. They don't have things like kemo, transplants, and all the other stuff. Mainly it is just doctor visits.

You mentioned the movement not wanting people to have healthcare. It isn't that. It is that the government will tell us that we are required to buy what the government says we need not what we want. Also the government says what we pay and what we get. I just don't want the government controling my every move.

I could go on an on about things I dislike such as the government forming over 160 new agencies to look after the bill and the 17,000 new IRS agents who will police all of us, and the government taking over all school loans putting every bank in the US out of the business. But I will stop now. I have a couple of questions I want to ask in another reply.

May God Bless us all

You mentioned scripture saying we should have no thought of tommorrow. Can you tell me where that is. I would like to read that. I am wondering if you were refering to the fact that we are not to worry but should turn that over to God. Is much as I read the Word, I never can remember where I read it.

Have a great and blessed day   Amanda

(Response)

Dear Dennis,
I will try and go over some points that you made and maybe you can understand why this country is so divided. I do believe that some of not most people in the tea party movement are indeed racists. To bring that point up is not to say that you are racist , as I have not seen that behavior in your postings from you.

I think that people forget that Solomon said, My skin is black and comely and was the wisest ,man on earth or to have ever lived or ever will. Simon, an ethopian carried Jesus's cross. I will try and state my point as food for thought as best I can, although my husband, is much more well versed as he studies only KJV 1611 and then runs reference in Hebrew and Greek. could do a much better job.

I am sure and this is a misconception of some on the right who think that people who are indeed backers of President Obama or voted for him are not Christian. There are many who have exemplified their work in Christianity as much as the right but usually not as vocal about it, quoting the prayer closet and crying to God in contrast to wht Jesus compared to Pharasees and hypocrits.

It is true there are non believers but there are on both sides of the aisle. We cannot force faith.
.
My husband is from Jacksonville and served with the 101st 2nd of the 501st in 70-71 and attached to the 75th Ranger Division. He was at Phu bi, Asahau Valley and I know that spelling is wrong , and in Laos and basically all over. He was Long Range Reconnisance or LURPS, medic, and just a survivor. He is now 100 percent disabled and I fight for veterans benefits to our honorably served veterans along with helping our active military.

I oppose the war but will stand and battle for the veteran in the halls of Congress and have made several trips to DC on behalf of our veterans.

Bush made sure under the Patriot Act of what your every move was, that was started under him not Obama, not to mention the deficit.

On the scriptures
Take no thought for your life Matthew Chapter 6 vs 25
27,28,31,34 and also Chapter 10 verse 19.

Jesus said those are well have no need for a physician but those who are sick. Luke was a physician.

Also Jesus said laughter doth good like a medicine which covers
the fact people do get sick.

Under capitol punishment...Jesus came to fulfill the law and he said Do no harm to any man by word or deed. If we still lived under the law of Moses it would be an eye for an eye, men would still have cocubines and 1000 wives. women would be stoned to death and
Jesus would not have told Paul, my grace is sufficient.

Yes we do believe in healings but Paul prayed three times and that is when Jesus said that his grace was sufficient. We believe in divine healing but sometimes a healing comes in the form of a doctor or death and going on to the grave. God also gives us the choice of Free will and our decisions are accountable and not all sin is unto death but each man's faith is his own. To every man is given a measure of faith.

When Jesus fed the multitude I am quite sure some came there just to eat, but he denied no one the bread and fish. He never charged a dime for doing a good deed or helping or visiting.
Jesus said render unto Caesar that which is Caesar and that which is God's God.

Aso remember the fish for the tax money and there would be money for thee and me. I know I am paraphrasing but it is in there, I am sure you know. Give and it shall be given. Now we can talk IRA's and money markets but it is all his. Everything.

Jesus said, Feed the poor, freely I give to you, and speaking to us
give to others. The tithes in the new testament they sold everything they had and laid it at the deciples feet to be distributed to the poor. They had all things common especially of the household of faith.

Now Dennis,
we cannot make people believe because they are not puppets but a free will. There are over 200 religions in this country and although it is our duty to pray for but it is also our duty to do for those ...who cannot do for themselves.

The insurance companies decides who has pre exisiting conditions.

Now according to Aetna and many other insurance companies my x husband beat me, guess what I have a pre exisiting condition and I cannot be treated for any stomach problems I have now no matter how much I spend on insurance.

I had cancer in 81 and I had insurance and they paid for the insurance but then billed me later on because I had something I did not know I had, even with insurance.

My son cannot get insurance because as a baby he had a pre exisiting condition as a baby. They do cancel insurance.

My husband has the VA and it is excellent coverage for him but so many are left out in the private sector.

Now, there are 275,000 veterans homeless on the street on any given night but many self medicate and have PTSD and mental ilness and no VA due to not even knowing there is help.

If people obeyed God, there would be no need for Big Government but greed has taken over and I started a vets org and have no salary and consider it a good work and take no salary and have so many saying they support troops but will not give a dime.

We have 2 dollars in the bank and have for over a year. If it were a perfect world real christians and not special interest which are on both sides woud be helping as Jesus said but they are not and the constitution does guarantee not only for the common defense but the general welfare of a nation as well.

that is my position. (the preamble and what I have told you is my faith.

Sincerely,
Amanda
