Democrats will keep blaming George W. Bush until the problems from his administration end, according to Speaker Nancy Pelosi....and rightly so. These are problems that have come about due to the ineptitude and corporate protectionism brought about by the Bush years.
In the interview with MSNBC reporter Chuck Todd, he asked whether voters would tire of hearing Pelosi and her party blame today's problems on the last president., Pelosi said congressional Democrats feel justified in blaming the Bush administration because of the problems it left behind for President Barack Obama.
Asked if there was a statute of limitations on blaming Bush, Pelosi said: "Well, it runs out when the problems go away.
"He brought us to the brink of financial crisis, he brought us to the brink of deep recession, ignoring issues related to climate change," said Pelosi (D-Calif.), who rattled off a number of problems she said Democrats inherited from Bush and are trying to fix.
Now this remark by Pelosi is in stark contrast to the Republicans who seem to want to forget that Bush was ever president. If you listen to the low moans of the Republicans, both in congress and out on the street, you'd think we went right from Bill Clinton's presidency right to Barack Obama's presidency. Republicans have criticized Democrats for playing the Bush blame game, they just seem to hate it when they are asked to accept personal responsibility for their actions. Imagine that.
It's almost understandable that Republicans want to forget that Bush ever existed. Look at the huge mess he and his cohort in crime Dick Cheney left this country in. From national security, to recession/depression to foreign policy disasters to climate change and environmental policy denial...it's all a huge mess.
If you want to see what every day Republicans are up to, I invite you to take a look at an AOL message board that I post to. This message board is about politics and I have posted on it for years. You don't have to be a member of AOL to read it or post to it, but you do have to have a strong stomach. Some of the vitriol and stupidity posted by the Republican side is just beyond belief. Almost every one of the Republican posters to that board want to pin all of Bush's problems on Obama. They don't want to talk about Bush's responsibility for the problems we face today. As far as they're concerned, we never had a George W Bush presidency, until of course they want to post about the fact that we had "no terrorist attacks on our soil after 9-11-2001". Of course, they refuse to face the fact that the 9-11 attacks happened on Bush's watch, it must have been Clinton's fault, and it must have been Clinton's fault that Bush ignored the pleas of the NIA about Bin Ladin. Right. Republicans have never been about personal responsibility, and no where is it more clear than on the aforementioned AOL message board.
If you want to read the board, simply follow this link: http://messageboards.aol.com/... . The message board is entitled "The Political Conundrum" and if you want to post to it, you simply invent a screen name on AOL (no charge and no membership) and you can post your thoughts. What you'll find is a lot of racist remarks about our president and a lot of Bush denial interspersed with a huge dose of hypocrisy. It can be shocking and intense. But it is the pulse of the Republican party and it's current constituency and their futile attempt to blame all of the Bush problems on Obama... it's shocking!
So I say hooray for Nancy Pelosi for stating the obvious truth. Let's not lose sight of the fact that this current president was handed a huge mess to deal with by the last administration. Lets not ever let the public forget that fact.
