It's as plain as day. The GOP candidate running for House Seat 108 is proving to be 1) in the back pocket of Tom Swatzel's South Carolinians for Responsible Government - a front group funded by Howard Rich and 2) too inexperienced to realize the consequences of such "promises" he makes.
Specifically, Kevin Ryan wants to destroy public education. Teachers, I hope you all read this. It's his words exactly.
One of his goals will be to try to reduce the overhead within the S.C. Department of Education by 15 percent and put the money saved back in the schools that need the funds.
"I would like to cut it by 75 percent but feel that would be rather harsh," he said. "Fifteen percent is a starting point."
Exactly what does he mean by "overhead" cuts.
Ryan should know that the state has made huge cuts already to public education. Millions and millions has been cut, teachers have been let go and some were saved only by federal money being injected into the state. It's part of a master plan to totally eliminate the public school system.
Just another example of not caring at all about education in South Carolina, unless it benefits private schools.
He faces Democratic incumbent Vida Miller in November.
