When the results of the 2006 midterm elections were finalized, people across the country thought they ushered in a Democratic majority in the House and Senate in Washington, D.C. If only they knew the truth.

Have you noticed a common phrase people utter? It's the one that states we should be able to do what we want because we have the majority. Yes, we have Dems controlling the lawmaking process... on paper. In reality, the Democratic Party is still a minority party.

When Republicans swarmed into leadership - dictatorship - roles in 1994, they came in with a right-wing agenda that all had to comply with. If not, they felt the wrath of Newt Gingrich and Tom DeLay. Our leadership hasn't even begun to blossom, folks.

The U.S. House - and the Democratic Party - has a scab, known as the Blue Dog Coalition. These blue dogs are moderate-to-conservative Democrats, known to hold out against party principle and concede as much as possible. Formed in 1995, their original members, Louisiana representatives Billy Tauzin and Jimmy Hayes eventually left the Democratic Party, showing they in fact were Republicans.

Today, we have blue dogs in Congress who continually hold up progress in this country. We, as a people, thought we were getting a Democratic majority, however, we ended up with sheep in wolves' clothing. They continue to caucus under a DINO name. The simple fact  of the original members switching parties shows this. Why continue to be under a banner that is completely used just to get elected in conservative states.

It's an appeasement process. Blanche Lincoln knows this very well. Play both sides for... power. Simply put, if Dems would actually obtain the same vigor and aggressiveness the Republicans had in 1994, then maybe a lot more could be done for the working people, the common people of this country. But, instead of that we have Dems worried about being elected over and over again rather than sticking up for the people and doing a job they are not promised to have.

So, think about who you actually vote for. Think about who they'll actually side with. Just because they say they are a Dem doesn't mean they actually are.
