I watched last night's GOP debate mostly to mock my ex douchebag of a Senator (Santorum) and saw Ron Paul get cheers for ending the wars as well as decriminalizing drugs in between Santorum acting like the pompous authoritarian ass he is.  Ok I wasn't surprised by that at all since late last Presidential primary Kucinich and Paul kind of worked in tandem in the anti-war department so I have been familiar with him.

So I check some stuff on here about the debates and I eventually meander to this diary:

And...

holy crap here is someone who is by far the best R out there in terms of civil liberties and his own hands off stance as the President makes sure he can't do anything to issues the legislature won't touch (medicare and SS) and he is AGAINST KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE OVERSEAS you know unlike our current President.

And what happens to the idea that we should even talk with people who are with us on several key issues?

Guy gets hide-rated into oblivion for the mere suggestion that we should do as we preach and be open minded and use discussion, discourse, and dialogue with people who may disagree.  It was like a pot of group-think sucking Republibots marching lock in step against Paul in the primary for being GASP anti-war.

Seriously what the hell is wrong with us in that the very idea of thinking about maybe talking with people to form a stronger block on key issues is inane?  Are we afraid we will catch libertarianism by mere association - I'm sure not likely to and I don't know about the rest of you but since when are we the people who see ourselves as shouting down someone for suggesting a peaceable way to work together for a shared goal?

Someone please tell me when just asking a question on here as to how we can best effect a political outcome of not committing murder around the globe gets torn apart like a pack of angry jackals?
